One of the most common questions I receive from clients is “How long will it take to finish my case?” It’s always hard to answer this question, because it simply depends on what you as the client want in your case and the individual circumstances to each case. The least helpful response is that it could take any length of time. Let’s discuss why this is, and hopefully provide a little more understanding on the process for a personal injury case. Stages of a Personal Injury Claim Your personal injury case could only take a few months, or it could take years. It’s important to know that every case is different, the facts our different, the injuries are different, and this all plays in to the time period of a case. In many cases, the longer wait may offer you the chance of a larger settlement. A personal injury case evolves in stages. After the accident, the first stage is your “recovery” period. During this time you are healing, and it’s also an excellent time to contact an attorney to help you through your claim. This time period also allows for the doctor to determine the full extent of your injuries. It is very important during this period that you take the time need to have your injuries fully evaluated and allow your body to recover and heal. Once you have recovered, your doctor will say that you have reached what is referred to as your Maximum Medical Improvement (MMI). This is a term a doctor will use to explain that your medical condition has stabilized…

Judge Channing Bennett and Avery’s Child Support Walking into the courtroom was an experience in itself, preparing for whatever dull or typical case would entertain my sights for the rest of the hour. A young and nimble man in a hoodless sweatshirt stood poised at the defendant’s table with an empty chair beside him. The prosecutor 's table supplied an older man and a young auburn haired woman, seated and watching as the older man shuffled through paperwork. Two women sat in the benches behind…

previous to this, women were marginalized and rarely recognized as capable of achievements beyond childbirth and housework. As Virginia Woolf explained, anonymous “was often a woman.” Although, some anonymity may be relaxing, the thought of total anonymity is undesirable by any human being. The first flickers of feminism started in 1848, in Seneca Falls, New York at a two-day conference on woman’s rights. Of the almost 200 women and 40 men that attended the convention, 68 women and 32 men…

My connections examined the portrayal of alienation in mainstream society. I chose to use texts from a modern time period to help create more concrete conclusions about mainstream society. My texts were Education for Leisure by Carol Ann Duffy, Sad Joke on a Marae by Apirana Taylor, District 9 directed by Neill Blomkamp and Barton Fink directed by Joel Coen. I expected all of my texts to be able to reflect one another as they were all from a similar time period. In particular, I expected…
