Within almost all nations, we endure the the sheer fact that what we say and do isn’t always what is heard, for it is apparent that those in the highest seats of power would prefer us to remain silent, to quell our revolution of words. Policies in our own american government such as libel and slander laws prevent us from elaborating on how we feel, our thoughts and opinions are drowned in this sea of red tape so that those who can afford to keep their names clean and pure, are kept so. Nowhere are laws such as these more prevalent than in communist nation of China, where government officials control almost all aspects of public lives. The Chinese “golden shield project”, better known in popular culture as the great firewall, which bans certain websites, blocks access to the internet, and prevents certain people from gaining access to servers through firewalls. This allows for the control of information throughout the nation, allowing for control of its citizens far more easily. Even in the western world, until recently, all plays and theatre shows in great britain, was forced to go through scrutinous overview of the chamberlain's office, who would search for anything one would find offensive, such as sexually explicit language, sexually explicit actions, and any other actions that one would deem, too much for the public.
