Rough Draft “A relatively new sport, football, has gained a lot of publicity since its birth in 1880 when Walter Camp started to alter the rules of rugby”(Hall of fame 2017). Since this time football has changed a great deal and has become a much more dangerous and violent game for the entertainment of fans. This creates the question, if football has become so dangerous why would anyone want to play it? While football appears as just another sport, not just anyone can participate in it…
There are so many pennies in the world, but the question has arised whether or not to eliminate the penny. When you hear the word penny what do you think of? Do you think of a worthless no good coin that just takes up empty space? Or do you think of the penny as valuable and as something that holds value to our American Society? There is many different opinions of the penny today from all around the world. The penny dates back for as long as most people can remember. The penny should be kept…
The idea of the elimination of the penny has been an ongoing debate for the past decade. The idea first started when the cost of the creation of the penny became public. It costs more money to make a penny than a penny is actually worth. Therefore every time a penny is created the government is losing money. It has become a shock to me to find out that the simple fix to this problem is to stop the minting process of such a useless coin, but we still continue to do so. If someone were to actually…
I have been working at Kum and Go since May 2016. In my 7 months working here I find it strange we throw away so much receipt paper. We ask every customer if they would like their receipt and about 9 out of 10 people say they don't. Now I work at a slower store in Colorado Springs and we probably go through a box of receipt paper every 2 weeks sometimes 3 boxes in a month during the summer. Now if all 422 stores in the country are using the same amount of receipt paper as my store at 3 boxes a…
Five of them make a nickel, ten make a dime, 25 a quarter, and 100 a dollar. Is it practical for society to pay the price of something so small in value that one cent is all that it is worth? Due to the small amount and worth, The cost to make a penny compared to how much it is valued, and the fact that these days, credit and/or debit cards have becoming increasingly popular limiting the use of change and even cash, pennies are an additional burden that the US does not need to be carrying. The…
¨… [Penny] has been a part of the United States for two-hundred years. It's design has changed over twenty one times. History also shows that the economy has changed, so has the value of the coin (Sommer).¨ There has been controversial talk about if the penny is going to be discarded or be kept around in people's drawers. Some people may presume that keeping the penny will be beneficial to them, but that is an imprecise statement due to taking up too much space and making more pennies. To start…
Every year I spend half of my summer hiking the Rocky Mountains of Montana with my mom and the other half climbing the Cascade Mountains of Washington State with my dad. I have grown up in two different states because of my parents divorce. However, I don 't have an innate sense of pride for one state but a pride for the two separate and unique mountain ranges that have shaped who I am today. When I am in the free and open space of a forest with the cool summer breeze flowing through my hair and…
The most important strategy for working effectively with host country partners is outlined in the core expectations as well as throughout the Peace Corps Volunteers Handbook, "Recognize that your successful and sustainable development work is based on the local trust and confidence you build…" In order to be an effective volunteer I must first earn the respect of the community in which I live and work…

Joining the Peace Corps is something that I have contemplated on doing since my freshmen of Year College. As a child growing up in a developing country Cameroon, I have experience to some degree what it means to be unnoticed and uncared for. so when came to the united states in 2004 with my siblings, one of my high school teachers asked the class to write on a piece of paper what each of us would like to be when we grow up. As I remember vividly, I wrote “I want to become a political diplomat or…
