This group was a small discussion group facilitated by Ellen and myself. The purpose of this task group was to get opinions from the members about our topic. We carefully planned the structure for the group discussion by creating a nonthreatening environment, which allowed the members to feel free to talk openly and give their opinions. The clubhouse model came about after the 1950’s deinstitutionalize movement. The deinstitutionalize movement consisted of many state mental hospitals closing, leaving many homeless and incarcerated.
