student fills up their chart, then they will get a reward such as a pizza party or ice cream party. If a student has a really bad day in band and misbehaves or causes distractions, then I will take a sticker off of their chart. Another way that I will promote positive behavior in my band classroom is by having a Wall of Fame. In order for my students to get their name and picture up on the Wall of Fame, they will have to memorize and test their major scales with me. I will have different scale requirements for each grade. The 6th grade students will need to test their C major, F major, Bb major, and Eb major scales to get their picture on the wall. The 7th grade students will also test the same scales as the 6th graders, but the 7th graders will also have to test G major, D major, and Ab major. The 8th graders will test all the same scales as the 6th and 7th grades, but will also have to test A major, E major and Db major. By having the Wall of Fame, I feel that my students will promote the positive behavior of learning and testing their scales. Specific rules in my classroom will include be on time, be prepared with your music and instrument, always have a pencil, treat others as you would like to be treated, no cell phones and no gum. As a first year teacher, I will most likely be entering the music classroom as a weak outsider. Because of this, I feel that it will be easier for me to implement my classroom management philosophy.
