Reading Genesis chapters 1:1 – 2:3 I was amazed to find out that earth wasn’t something that was already in existence, but that earth was something created by Someone who was already in existence. The first chapter of Genesis starts off in verse one saying “In the beginning God” implying that he was there before all things. God is not only a master in creating but I learned in this narrative that he is also a master in designing. What really strikes me is that I am able to recognize one of God’s attributes which is that he is omnipotent. He has power over nature. He is able to create things that are impossible to create with human bare hands. He is able to limit space of how far the water should stay. I am stoked on how powerful God is. 2. List some of the words and themes that recur through the passage. What emphases do these suggest? Some of the words and themes that recur through these passages are God created, God said, God saw it was good, God called, and God blessed. We find it in chapter 1 v.1 “God created the heavens and the earth,” v.7 “God made the expanse,” v.16 “God made the two great lights,” v.21 “God created the great sea monsters and every living creature that moves,” and finally v.27 “God created man in his own image.” The theme I identify through these verses is that God is the creator of all existing and living thing. We are able to see his absolute power and this emphases that…
