What Does Freedom Mean To You

Decent Essays
For my paper this week I am going to be talking about America. There are many things I love about this country. For instance, the fact we have freedom. But I sometimes feel that this is something we take for granted, in fact I think we take a lot of things for granted and we don't even know it. Like the clothes we wear, or the food we eat, or even the water we drink! Don't get me wrong I love this country, and with everything going on in the world it's the best place to be right now. Which if we really think about that it's really kinda sad. Because we sadly live in a sick, twisted, and selfish world. But I also know that this isn't my real home, my real home is so much more beautiful, my real home is in heaven with God! But sadly there are many others out there that don't believe in God or believe in other Gods and won't go to heaven and for me when I think about that sometimes, makes me very upset. …show more content…
Like the fact we have freedom of speech, the fact we have the freedom to speak our mind or say how we feel is amazing because a lot of other people can't do that. Or how about freedom to gather, knowing we can gather peacefully and feel safe doing so is also amazing. Because again not everyone can do that. And how about freedom of religion, the fact we can talk about God and tell others about Jesus and what he did for us and not be beaten, wiped, or even killed is something we should be very thankful for. You know how we celebrate thanksgiving? I mean of course you do its the one day of the year you get together with friends and family and eat four days worth of food in one sitting and everybody says what they are thankful for. But the thing is we don't have to wait for that one day to say what we are thankful for. I'm not trying to hate on thanksgiving, and everything in this paper go's for me

What the American Flag Means to me Everytime I see an american flag I can’t help but think about how great our country is. After all, flags are all about representation. A synonym for flag is banner, and all the ones that are not for decoration are emblems. The flag that I see the most is the american flag, and when I look at the colors of the United States flag every morning when we say the pledge of allegiance at school, I think about about the republic that it stands for as well as the liberty and justice that we have.…

We are sometimes only able to see the things that we do not have and overlook the things that we do. We take for granted things like freedom, equality, and being able to gain an education. Many forget that these things are not guaranteed to others that live in different places. I realized how fortunate I am to live in America when I met someone from another country.…

There is one thing that is essential and irreplaceable, America’s true and pure freedom: the freedom to speak or write whatever one pleases and the gift of following a religion freely. What other monument symbolizes freedom better than the Statue of Liberty? Dating back to 1876, the statue was sculpted by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and built by Gustave Eiffel. The copper statue consists of seven rays on her crown, each representing one of the continents; and broken chains lay at her feet; symbolizing the freedom from being ruled by a monarch.…

Every morning, with tired eyes we mindlessly place our right hands atop our hearts and recite the national pledge. We wave our flag proudly at Fourth of July festivities, smiling with joy. Every two years we cheer on the United States team as they compete in the Olympics. We show appreciation towards our home country regularly, yet how often do we stop and question what it really means to be an American. It is inarguable that America is a land of unique inhabitants and cultures.…

Every citizen who is either born or choose to become of this this country, often referred to as the “Land of Opportunity”, has the ability to do or be anything they wish if they put their mind and heart to it. As a child of two immigrants who came to America with nothing, this phrase truly resonates with me since it shows that America can allow people to be who they were meant. Due to this, a sense of gratitude comes about and pride of one’s nation.
