Everytime I see an american flag I can’t help but think about how great our country is. After all, flags are all about representation. A synonym for flag is banner, and all the ones that are not for decoration are emblems. The flag that I see the most is the american flag, and when I look at the colors of the United States flag every morning when we say the pledge of allegiance at school, I think about about the republic that it stands for as well as the liberty and justice that we have.
When we talk about the republic that the United States flag represents we are talking about how all the power of the united states is held by the people. We elect our president and congress members, who in turn appoint and confirm the supreme court justices. We, the citizens of America, have the privilege to say who runs our country, making our country the best place to be.

Our independence and justice was not easy to some by; many have given up their lives for it. That is what makes it special. We should be proud that we have something worth dying for, and sometimes it is hard for me to comprehend how we can truly show enough respect to those who died for our exceptional country. We should be proud of our judicial system, because everyone in america has the right to a fair trial. Also, we should be proud of how much our country has endured. Some say the terrorists who hijacked and crashed the planes on september 1, 2001 were influenced by jealousy of our freedom. Despite the fact that thousands of people died, we should be proud of what our country survived.
