We truly are the land of the free and the home of the brave. I’ve been lucky enough to grow up in a country that has shown me the best of times and but also the worst of times, yet my love for my country has never wavered. Even through the worst of times, we as a country have overcome which inspires me on so many levels. The United States of America was founded nearly 300 years ago, which in itself is pretty spectacular. The fact that we, as a country, have survived for this long must mean we’re doing something right. Even from a historical standpoint, the survival of the US is actually rather momentous. There are some bad people in the world, and that is such an unfortunate reality that I think some people let cloud their minds and soil places/groups/countries as a whole. What really makes America special to me, and why I have such a strong admiration for my country is our ability to deal with terrible situations. The America I believe in is a country founded upon the basic right of freedom. Although often overlooked by many countries, freedom should be an essential part of any human’s life. Our Founding Fathers, who were strong advocates of freedom, took a risk by declaring their independence from the British tyranny. I feel that this risk that many considered to be unwise and rash, proved to be a brave and important decision that became an example for many countries who would later go on to declare their independence, such as Afghanistan and Egypt. The Founding Fathers had one thing that will prove to be a key constituent in many historical events: they had hope.…

America is the land of the free, because of the brave. Americans enjoy many freedoms because of the democracy our ancestors fought very hard to establish. Freedom summarizes what being an American is about, but it’s not what an American is. An American is someone who is brave enough to do something even though the punishment is severe, someone who sees opportunity and stops at nothing to achieve it, and someone who doesn’t take the easy way out. Bravery is part of the definition of an American.…
