Summary of Policy The Board of Education of the San Bernardino City Unified School districts proclaims practices that align with an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer, therefore stating compliance with several standing legislatures. More specifically, Title VI and VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, Sections 503 and 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, the Age Discrimination Act of 1975, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, the federal Family and Medical Leave Act, California Family Rights Act, and the Fair Employment and Housing Act regulation are supported and executed within the San Bernardino City Unified School District (San Bernardino City USD, 2007). The intention behind this board policy is to ensure diversity, equity, and equal employment opportunities are established and maintained within the school district. The discrimination based ones’ race, sex, gender, religion, ethnicity, physical or mental disability, and race is prohibited, thereby shall not be considered when undergoing the hiring process, promotion opportunities, or placement settings (Cambron-McCabe, McCarthy & Eckes, 2014).
