The debate, “Does America Cherish Diversity?” has a great popularity, and has brought a great deal of unique opinions. Patel believes that America cherishes it’s diversity, and McGregor does not think America cherishes it’s diversity. My opinion on the matter is that America does not cherish it’s diversity, and they should not have to, but they should respect other’s diversity, and others should respect their diversity from them. There are many reasons I believe America does not cherish diversity.…

Recently, a lot things like Trump temporarily banned immigration from 7 countries, he also wants to build wall on the U.S-Mexico border makes me thinking about Patrick Buchanan’s essay “Can Diversity Destroy Us?” and “A.D. 2041 – End of White America?”. He mentioned “That America is gone forever. Hiring for diversity is an important issue and sometimes it is necessary in public agencies, and also the fire service for many reasons. One reason would be that in these communities there are cultural barriers, which mean that potentially there also are language barriers. This can cause lack of communication between the ones that are providing the help and those that need it and can be extremely frustrating for the providers. Hiring people that are bi-lingual is a huge bonus for public agencies. In addition, having diversity can ensure that people in the communities feel that their race, religion, culture, gender etc. are being respected and that are also well represented.…

It is those people that, obviously, taken an exclusivist approach to how they view the growing diversity in The United States. Simply put, it is those that think they and their church is right and that others of other faiths are wrong. In The United States this is mostly represented by Christian Exclusivists, however, this could be because there is more Christians than other religions. It is thought by some people that there is still a race issue in America. America has evolved from slavery and discrimination, but remnants of the past still seem to rear their ugly heads in less obvious, or more socially acceptable forms. The issue I’m currently developing branches from the “Black Lives Matters” movement that has been going strong since recent years. Trayvon Martin’s case, amongst many similar and recent cases has fueled a fire for justice for blacks and other disadvantaged social groups. Ideas on how belonging to a particular racial group may affect one’s life includes the belief that every man is equal; not color but a person’s action determine their situation.…

Many Americans born in the United States proved their prejudices towards diversity and immigrants in the mid-19th century in historical documents showing their refusal to even consider Irish or Catholic immigrants for their available positions and the formation of the Know Nothing Party. The influx of immigrants was likely seen as overwhelming and threatening to settled Americans, particularly regarding Irish Catholic immigrants fleeing the Potato Famine, who they felt threatened their Protestant establishments. Due to the lack of fruition in immigrant communities, these prejudices were obviously mainstream enough to affect lives and probably lasted well into the time of the next generation of immigrants as…

Through all of our readings and discussions from this class, we have studied many issues related to diversity. Diversity plays a major role in our culture today; however, discrimination based on race, ethnicity, class, sexuality, and gender has been apart of America’s history since the beginning. This class taught me a lot about discrimination because of diversity, and I want to focus on specifically on racial issues. In this essay, I will review several excerpts from this class concerning issues that have arisen from racial discrimination, both from America’s history and present. The first excerpt we read regarding racial issues discussed immigration to America in the late 1800’s.…
