Gay Marriage For those who have watched the news lately, most people have probably been introduced to the topic of gay marriage, or otherwise known as same-sex marriage. Same-sex marriage is when a person, male or female, marries someone of the same gender as themselves. This topic has been highly controversial because we have those who strongly oppose and disagree with the idea, and others who are firm supporters. Those who support same-sex marriage think homosexuals should have the same equal rights as heterosexuals when it comes to marriage. Those who oppose same-sex marriage feel this idea is a terrible decision, and want to have no part of it. The controversial issue across the states is whether same-sex marriage should be legalized or not. For many years, marriage has been known as a union between two people. The unions in marriage have come a long way, from being arranged by parents to two people spontaneously falling in love and making the decision to spend the rest of their lives together. The two people, a man and woman, receive a marriage license and are wed with no problems. Same-sex couples are challenged with many issues and limitations because of their same gender partner. They are denied access to having a marriage license and are unable to marry their partner.
