Gay Marriage Persuasive Essay

“Sixty percent of Americans now support same-sex marriage, as the Supreme Court prepares to rule on its constitutionality next month. This is up from 55% last year and is the highest Gallup has found on the question since it was first asked in 1996.” Gay marriage is a highly conversational topic that should be looked down upon as morally wrong, but over the past few years it has been gaining more and more support. Gay marriage used to be despised upon many people in many cultures and should remain that way because the definition of marriage is starting to go in a new direction that many are unaware of. The movement started off as people who just wanted to be accepted even thought the are attracted to the same sex, and now people want to change laws so that it is legal to marry all over the country. Parents make a big difference in the lives of their children, and when certain characteristics are missing in a child’s life, it can leave a huge impact on that child’s future. “Children need both a mother and a father.” Going without a parent or being raised in households where one parent is being held in the place of a parent who is of the opposite gender. The consequences children can suffer from when going without just one parent is drastic. “Girls who are raised apart from their fathers are reportedly at higher risk for early sexual activity and teen pregnancy.” The teenage girls who are raised in an environment like this tend to act out more than children who have both parents active in their lives.
