Imagine waking up next to the person you love, the person you have a child with, the person you share a home with, but you can’t be married to them. Before June 26, 2015, in the United States of America it was not permitted to be married to someone of the same sex. In my personal opinion, gay marriage should be legal because America was founded upon freedom, and not being able to love and marry who you want, is everything but freedom. People shouldn’t have the power to tell others who they can and can’t marry. There are many reasons that gay marriage is a good change in the constitution. Some of their arguments include that the idea of marriage has traditionally been defined as being between a man and a woman, children need a mother and a father, and it’s against their religious beliefs. Social expectance has changed compared to prior times in the United States, which makes gay relationships occur more. Having a mother and a father figure in your life is important; however, being raised by a same sex couple will not affect how a child develops. In conclusion, if someone is going to use the bible to justify their beliefs against gay marriage they need to interpret the whole bible rather than just using what is convenient for them. For example, in todays time it is viewed as okay to have premarital sex yet the bible calls this a sin, just like gay
