On February 3rd, 2013, Sam Smith created an angelic, enchanting, and self fulfilling song called Lay Me Down. Through his love of music Sam Smith is able to make a statement for what he believes is in equality throughout America in regards to same sex marriages in the church. Equality has always been a symbol of hope, liberty, freedom, and a chance to live an unbiased life. Unfortunately, some individuals do not agree with this value in America. The slow pace exemplified the struggles within of missing someone so special. In great despair, he hovers over a wooden casket clenching and crossing his fingers together. In the music video, his head hangs low as he glances down at the casket carrying his love one. Sam Smith vocalized his desire to be together and hold each other one last time. As the piano plays ever so softly, sorrow fills the many individuals’ faces that have come to witness this love and despair. Each guest in the many pews are grasping lit candles. The scene that is being exemplified is the present time in which Sam has lost a loved one and is desperately missing him. He vocalizes, “Can I lay by your side, next to you, you?
