Observation And Documentation In Early Childhood Education

There are quite a few reasons for why I am taking this course. The first reasoning, and probably the most important to me, is to learn more about documentation. From previous child development classes, my professors have touched on this topic but never went more thoroughly into that topic. In this course, it looks like a majority of it revolves around observations and documentation. In the syllabus, the course description mentioned learning different strategies when doing observations and documentations. This is very significant to me since my current stagey is to write down everything I see as fast as I can. Sometimes this gets a little stressful since I do not want to miss anything; so my hope for this class is that I will learn better approaches to help me do better observations and write better documentations. …show more content…
Observations are a very important part of being a teacher, since in the long run, it can ultimately help create goals for certain children and get them help for whatever is they need. The only way to tell whether or not a child needs help, whether is be academically, emotionally or socially, is to observe how they act in these situations. The main reason for documenting is to gather information about a child, such as attitude, learning ability or social skills. These documents then can be shared with other teachers or family to help the child succeed at whatever they

Introduction: Child development involves emotional, physical, sociable, and intellect changes over a period from conception through adolescence. Childhood is a multifaceted process in which many changes occur. To fully understand the changes throughout childhood, one interview and observation was conducted to a toddler perspective, and a second interview and observation was implemented on a school-age child. Vast changes arise from infancy and toddlerhood, jumping to later childhood, and that was deceptive when comparing the outcomes from the two observations. Alex, who is eight years old, was the topic of the school-age child interview and observation.…

My field work experience had started in the preschool and where I have done the majority of my observations thus far. In the preschool I was beginning to understand how the different of components of the preschool all had concepts of phycology through all aspects of the classroom. During my time I saw how Piaget’s stages of cognitive development, how students handled new information through various methods, and Vygotsky’s sociocultural perspective are incorporated through different sections of the classroom. The classroom was based that learning should not be a structured experience, but learning should be developed through play and exploration.…

Personal Philosophy I believe that all children are unique and bring their own knowledge and experiences to any educational environment. I believe the early childhood environment is a place for children to be free agents to; develop, learn, grow and express themselves, while having the confidence and respect they as a person are entitled to. Furthermore I also belie that all children have the right to learn and their learning be abundant with experiences, knowledge and quality, as well as feeling a sense of belonging to their community and learning environment. These beliefs are important to my teaching and my philosophy of early childhood eduction.…

Students learn that commentary must be thoughtful and engaging, and that any essay should have quality body paragraphs supporting the thesis. It goes over evidence so that kids know what it means to put commentary and evidence in an essay when the teacher says it.
