Field Observation In Early Childhood Education

Decent Essays
As a summer camp counselor and EduCare before and after school program aide, I have gained experience working with children. Throughout my time at Fredonia I have been placed in many exemplary classrooms to teach and observe; including your class for the Spring 2013 semester. All of these field placements have strengthened my passion for working with all students and have improved my confidence in the classroom. In Spring 2015, I worked in the LoGuidice Ed. Center, where I was able to write a student’s IEP and FBA, based on observations and data that I had collected. Whether a classroom has students with IEPs and 504 plans or not, I believe that it is important to adjust lessons based on the students that are in the room. Working with students

The teacher will allow the student to sit at the table and draw. The student is not actively engaged in class and will fall further behind in school.…

EC students are not immune to punishment; they are however guaranteed services even if that is at the schools expense. Planning times should be used to differentiate your assignments to accommodate the requirement s of IEP’s. I see a disconnect between compliance and practice however. This was eye-opening for me, as a classroom teacher you must follow accommodations but you should work closely with the EC department and be receptive of their feedback of how to make this better for the EC students. I was amazed at how many teachers don’t take the time to do this.…

My field work experience had started in the preschool and where I have done the majority of my observations thus far. In the preschool I was beginning to understand how the different of components of the preschool all had concepts of phycology through all aspects of the classroom. During my time I saw how Piaget’s stages of cognitive development, how students handled new information through various methods, and Vygotsky’s sociocultural perspective are incorporated through different sections of the classroom. The classroom was based that learning should not be a structured experience, but learning should be developed through play and exploration.…

Focused observation reflection: The early childhood education, utilize their skills of observation on a continual basis. A good educator will recognize that regular observation can enhance their own teaching abilities and ultimately will have a positive impact in children they support. We don’t need to wait until there is a concern or problem in the program to being the process of observation. Systematic observations made by sensitive and knowledgeable educators are more powerful than any other technique in determining a child’s strengths and needs; knowing what to observe and recording the information for later reference is critical to good observation, often observations can be done unobtrusively in the child’s classroom setting as…

Identify those factors also; helps make the process of setting up preschool centers easier. After meeting with the teachers about the things I seen in the classroom, the teachers took it upon themselves to talk to a manager on helping them to change things in the room. After a week, I went back into the classroom to see the changes the teachers have done and it looked great.…
