We can lower the death rate and crime rate caused by guns and other firearms. Whenever you try to obtain a gun you’ll have to fill out a background check and take a test to see if you are compatible to obtain a gun. When you buy a gun and you fill out the form. You’ll get your gun before the background check is even done. With gun control we’ll be able to extend the amount of waiting just for that person to see if they are compatible for the gun. There would also be an age minimum for someone to be able to purchase a gun or obtain a permit. They’ll also be special permits for buying guns for hunting and any other recreational sport. With the presence of less guns there would be calmer arguments than someone shooting at their opponent. There would be a ban on some guns like military grade or high-capacity firearms. Jonathan Lowy, Director of Legal Action Project at the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence, stated, "These are weapons that will shred your venison before you eat it, or go through the walls of your apartment when you’re trying to defend yourself… [they are] made for mass killing, but not useful for law-abiding citizens." One reason that gun control isn't really helping is that more crimes are being committed. This problem will not be solved by taking the guns away from people. No matter how hard we try to ban guns from criminals, they still find a way to get their hands on one. Instead of taking away the guns, a better solution would be to chase down the criminals. By taking away guns, citizens wouldn't be able to protect themselves from criminals who obtain guns illegally.…

On one side you have those who are for gun control as gun violence has become a serious problem in America. On the other side of the coin you have American citizens who believe strongly in their right to bear arms as it is a staple of the rights all Americans are granted. In the US, there are roughly 283 million guns in civilian hands. Although this in and of itself does not seem particularly damaging or harmful to anyone, the amount of deaths because of these guns shows otherwise. It has been reported that over 30,000 people are killed each year as a result of gun violence, ⅓ of these deaths consist of people under the age of 20.…
