Government Funding Planned Parenthood

The question in question is “should the federal government continue to fund Planned Parenthood?” I think that the government should stay out of personal matters. There are many different avenues to approach Planned Parenthood. My thesis is the government should not fund Planned Parenthood because it is not the taxpayers’ child but it is their money, there are plenty of people that donate to cover the cost of Planned Parenthood, and it should not be placed on the taxpayer to pay for someone else’s choice.
The child in question is not a child from America’s womb. It is a child from the womb of the mother. The only ones that should bear responsibility for an abortion are the parents of the child. The United States collectively did not have sex,

Here recently in lieu of President-elect Trump and Vice President-elect Mike Pence winning the elections donations to Planned Parenthood have gone up. This is mostly due to people knowing that Vice President-elect Mike Pence wants to defund Planned Parenthood. “According to the Indianapolis Star, there have been 160,000 donations to Planned Parenthood in the last week — 12.5 percent in the name of Pence,” says Julie Maziotta of People Magazine. Julie Maziotta also said “Several celebrities donated to Planned Parenthood in the seven days since the election, including Katy Perry (who gave $10,000), and Amy Schumer and Amber Tamblyn, who said they donated in Pence’s name.” With all of these donations it seems like if Planned Parenthood happened to be defunded the organization would make out okay. Kimberly Ross of Red State says “In fact, Planned Parenthood has so much money on hand that they spent $38 million on campaigns this year to put Hillary in the White House and pro-abort candidates in Congress.” Now that is a lot of money to be spent on something that has nothing to do with the patients of Planned Parenthood. To me it just seems unjust that people are paying taxes to the government for abortions while the Planned Parenthood business gets to play with tax dollars from the government to support a candidate’s

Women need Planned Parenthood to help them make the correct medical decisions about their body based on proper medical advice; this organization has helped many women across the nation. The government plans to defund it because they think they own a women’s body. This is false; women own their bodies, not a governing body, a man, or even another woman. The…

Planned Parenthood vs. Right-Wing Conservatives Planned Parenthood is a non-profit, government funded organization that provides mostly women’s health services (abortion, STD screening, birth control). Recently, a heavily edited video was released by the Center for Medical Progress that provides alleged evidence of the non-profit Planned Parenthood receiving “compensation” for aborted fetal tissue. Obviously, this video brought up concerns and much controversy between those in support of and against Planned Parenthood. Conservatives in Congress now believe Planned Parenthood no longer deserves government funding; however, Planned Parenthood provides useful and sometimes life-saving services to men and women, therefore demonstrates a pressing…

Planned Parenthood should not lose any funding or be shut down. Despite recent abortion controversies, Planned Parenthood should not be held responsible for pro-abortion advocates. The organization is pro-choice, and intends to give the choice back to the people in order to allow them to choose a better life for themselves. If Planned Parenthood loses its funding or gets shut down, people everywhere, but especially low-income families, will be put in a difficult standing in affordable health care and wellness. Furthermore, shutting down Planned Parenthood would put many people at a greater health risk than they have now, and worst yet, it will not end abortion.…

If Planned Parenthood stop providing service to low incomes, younger generations will less likely obtain information and education that they need in order to promote healthy and safe sex lifestyle. Education is the key to lowering the percentage of teen pregnancies, abortions, and sexual diseases. In which, the organization has successfully been doing. If Republicans are truly concern on the issue of abortion, then they should work together with Democrats in continuing to fund the organization. In order to lower the abortion rates, services and education provided by Planned Parenthood is necessary for people to have options in protecting, preparing, and promoting healthy sex…

Many of the people who have a problem with this medical service, have an issue because it goes against their religious beliefs; but laws, or bills, should ever be swayed by personal beliefs of an individual. One of the most important ideas that structures our national government is the separation of church and state; one of the rights given to all American citizens is freedom of religion, which many people in our country misinterpret. While the people who approve of the bill to defund Planned Parenthood argue that the organization goes against their personal beliefs, they never seem to think about those whose rights they are diminishing. When the Republican Party makes these “proclamations [they] ignore individual rights, freedom of religion, and the fact that faith as a guiding principle can be dangerous when the foundational teachings of social justice are ignored” (Messina-Dysert). These people are ranking their own religious beliefs and morals above providing health care for people in need, especially those who in poverty; as Gina Messina-Dysert stated, “[Supreme] Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said it best: ‘Reproductive freedom is in a sorry situation in the United States.…

By preventing Planned Parenthood from receiving federal money, it means people with government funded health care cannot use it for the services provided at the clinics. Many people do not know the exact statistics of the services Planned Parenthood provide, and because of that they may have skewed ideas of the clinic. Without federal funding Planned Parenthood patients who use government provided health care would have to pay for all of the services of the clinic out of their own pocket (Bassett). For people with private health care, this would not be an issue, but for others who lack the money to pay for private health care, they may be in trouble. Planned Parenthood has said that two-thirds of their patients are “low-income and have no other primary health care provider” (Bassett).…

Women’s rights has been an issue in the United States since the early 1800’s and until all people are comfortable discussing the fact that in many parts of the world, women have no say in what they can do with their bodies or how it’s treated. A woman should be the only one who can decide what is best for her body. There is only so much that women can do when the one place that helps women with checkups and abortion based questions, Planned Parenthood, is being defunded or closed down. “The House of Representatives is expected to pass a budget reconciliation bill that guts the Affordable Care Act, pulls roughly $450 million in federal assistance from Planned Parenthood and prevents Medicaid recipients from getting reimbursed…
