Conservatism Vs Planned Parenthood

Planned Parenthood vs. Right-Wing Conservatives Planned Parenthood is a non-profit, government funded organization that provides mostly women’s health services (abortion, STD screening, birth control). Recently, a heavily edited video was released by the Center for Medical Progress that provides alleged evidence of the non-profit Planned Parenthood receiving “compensation” for aborted fetal tissue. Obviously, this video brought up concerns and much controversy between those in support of and against Planned Parenthood. Conservatives in Congress now believe Planned Parenthood no longer deserves government funding; however, Planned Parenthood provides useful and sometimes life-saving services to men and women, therefore demonstrates a pressing …show more content…
Another tendency of these morally right republicans is to obscure the essential line between political and religious views. Most of them suffer from a case of tunnel vision- seeing only what they want to see. Thus creating a prevalent problem in their arguments against Planned Parenthood; they are incredibly and inappropriately biased therefore removing validity from most of their statements. Conservatives in congress, such as David Walberg (represenative of Michigan) made the claim, “No matter what party you belong to, we should all agree that taxpayer dollars should not be used for harvesting baby parts.” This statement while holding some truth, contorts the true purpose of tax dollars that are utilized to support Planned Parenthood. Taxes contributed to Planned Parenthood pay for women to be tested for cancer, STD’s, and most importantly receive affordable reproductive health care when necessary. Saying things like “taxpayer dollars” and “harvesting baby parts” create an incriminating image of Planned Parenthood in the audience’s mind rather than an accurate one. Let’s break this down; for one, “taxes”-because everyone hates taxes, especially when they’re being wasted, that’s the American public’s hard earned money. Secondly, “harvesting baby parts” is one of the worst statements I personally have ever heard, what audiences need to understand is that scientifically speaking …show more content…
Republicans are creating heavily edited videos out of secretly taped footage and releasing them to the public in order to gain support. As I said early right-wing conservatives consider themselves of the utmost moral etc. however, lying to get what you want does not seem so righteous, let alone politically correct. All the propaganda created by the conservative extremists’ is an attempt to cut government funding of Planned Parenthood as previously discussed; but will it work? The answer is no, “it goes against the fundamental values of equality, mutual respect, and human rights that our country stands for” (O’niell). Whether we like it or not, women have the God-given natural right to do as they please with their body. To attempt to take that right away could be seen as an atrocious act of unconstitutionality. Even fellow republican candidate Jeb Bush, who has republican blood literally running through him thanks to his father and brother, declared, “I am against the government shutdown. That’s not how democracy works” while being interviewed on fox news (Barbaro). One cannot force their views, mores, or beliefs on others, that goes against the very foundation of the United States of

In this article it states the dispute between the republicans on defunding Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood has been accused of something major, they were accused of gaining profits from selling fetal tissue. Planned Parenthood denied these accusations and called it offensive. The president of Planned Parenthood, Cecile Richards faced off with conservative lawmakers who are wanting to end funding for Planned Parenthood. The reason they want to defund it is because there was a video released by anti-abortion activist.…

While it may not affect specific individuals personally it affects other women who can benefit from using it, there will be less healthcare for around 650,000 women worldwide. It will be even worse for the economy considering, “it is estimated that every dollar spent on publicly funded family planning yields a savings of $7.09 in public expenditures. In 2013, the government expenditures on unintended pregnancies and the associated births, abortions, and miscarriages totaled $21.0 billion. Permanently stripping Planned Parenthood of federal funding would increase government spending by $130 million over a decade.” (Flynn) Federal funding makes up about a third of the organization’s revenue, most of it comes from Medicaid.…

It is published by an organization whose only agenda is de-funding Planned Parenthood and ending all abortions. The main content is a video that shows several phone calls between a false donor and Planned Parenthood representatives. The donor asks if she can make a donation, and asks if she can make the donation for a specific minority group(blacks). The page has almost no source, and even the one source listed has no sources at all. Even in the video it is obvious the representatives are only trying to do their job.…

Kimberly Ross of Red State says “In fact, Planned Parenthood has so much money on hand that they spent $38 million on campaigns this year to put Hillary in the White House and pro-abort candidates in Congress.” Now that is a lot of money to be spent on something that has nothing to do with the patients of Planned Parenthood. To me it just seems unjust that people are paying taxes to the government for abortions while the Planned Parenthood business gets to play with tax dollars from the government to support a candidate’s…

Women need Planned Parenthood to help them make the correct medical decisions about their body based on proper medical advice; this organization has helped many women across the nation. The government plans to defund it because they think they own a women’s body. This is false; women own their bodies, not a governing body, a man, or even another woman. The…

Denying people the right to the many basic health needs that Planned Parenthood provides because of one dispute over the right to abortion is inhumane and unconstitutional. First, one of the main arguments for closing down the organization is that the centers are too dangerous for women. One politician states that women and children are ‘recklessly murdered’ when they go in for an abortion, and backs up this statement with the fact that a handful of women have died in the past twelve months (Perkins 2). A handful? This figure seems rather…

The academic articles by Joseph E. Potter and colleagues, uses methodological steps, first by providing a brief history of the topic, then formation of hypotheses followed by data collection, concluded by results and discussion where they state their claim, “implementation of the 2013 exclusion of Planned Parenthood affiliates from a Medicaid waiver program in Texas was associated with adverse changes in the rates of provision and continuation of contraception and with increases in the rate of childbirth covered by Medicaid” (Potter et al. 2016:860). As the academic article makes the claim towards the end the popular source by Deborah Newborn, makes the claims in the beginning of the article stating that, “The state of Texas’ sustained campaign against Planned Parenthood and other family planning clinics affiliated with abortion providers appears to have led to an increase in births among low-income women who lost access to affordable and effective birth control, a new study says”(2016). The disparities in these organizational approaches is to build a relationship between the author and reader in different discourse communities (Hyland…

If Planned Parenthood stop providing service to low incomes, younger generations will less likely obtain information and education that they need in order to promote healthy and safe sex lifestyle. Education is the key to lowering the percentage of teen pregnancies, abortions, and sexual diseases. In which, the organization has successfully been doing. If Republicans are truly concern on the issue of abortion, then they should work together with Democrats in continuing to fund the organization. In order to lower the abortion rates, services and education provided by Planned Parenthood is necessary for people to have options in protecting, preparing, and promoting healthy sex…

By preventing Planned Parenthood from receiving federal money, it means people with government funded health care cannot use it for the services provided at the clinics. Many people do not know the exact statistics of the services Planned Parenthood provide, and because of that they may have skewed ideas of the clinic. Without federal funding Planned Parenthood patients who use government provided health care would have to pay for all of the services of the clinic out of their own pocket (Bassett). For people with private health care, this would not be an issue, but for others who lack the money to pay for private health care, they may be in trouble. Planned Parenthood has said that two-thirds of their patients are “low-income and have no other primary health care provider” (Bassett).…

Planned Parenthood is an abortion king. They perform more abortions than anything or anyone else. That might have triggered John Kyl to say “ 90% of what Planned Parenthood does is abortions.” Statements similar to these are important because it isn’t a passable offense when elected officials would lie to Americans. That is what this statement is.…

Can you imagine a day without women? A day where the dishes were not clean, the laundry was not done and dinner is not served on the table. To the typical conservative man, this would be a tremendous nightmare. So, why do conservative men get to decide what women in America do with their bodies? Since when is a women's health part of the government's business or even part of politics.…

Women’s rights has been an issue in the United States since the early 1800’s and until all people are comfortable discussing the fact that in many parts of the world, women have no say in what they can do with their bodies or how it’s treated. A woman should be the only one who can decide what is best for her body. There is only so much that women can do when the one place that helps women with checkups and abortion based questions, Planned Parenthood, is being defunded or closed down. “The House of Representatives is expected to pass a budget reconciliation bill that guts the Affordable Care Act, pulls roughly $450 million in federal assistance from Planned Parenthood and prevents Medicaid recipients from getting reimbursed…
