Persuasive Essay On Planned Parenthood

Over the years women have been seen as a man’s property. A man has always known that his perceived natural rights entail a wife, her body, children, and a job. Essentially a twisted form of the American Dream right, but what if the clock is sped up to when women start gaining the confidence to fight for their rights? History has witnessed women gaining the right to vote, the ability to work alongside men, and to have their own house without a husband. For the next century women slowly gained recognition along with rights until the controversy over the funding of Planned Parenthood arose. Women need Planned Parenthood to help them make the correct medical decisions about their body based on proper medical advice; this organization has helped many women across the nation. The government plans to defund it because they think they own a women’s body. This is false; women own their bodies, not a governing body, a man, or even another woman. The …show more content…
Women also have the right to speak for her own body and protest against the defunding of Planned Parenthood, the 1st Amendment. These are basic rights that are being taken away just because of one person’s apparent superior experience. This is not acceptable for men to be making these decisions for women across the nation. It is also not acceptable for the women in Congress to be voting with the men. Shouldn’t we, as a female race, support one another’s rights? It is very difficult still for a woman to receive the proper recognition she deserves. Women deserve to make their own decisions and deserve to speak for their bodies. Obviously times have changed and the rights of women have progressed significantly, but there is always one hold up. In today’s society there should not be the ominous “but” in a sentence regarding women’s rights. The defunding of Planned Parenthood affects not only women’s rights as a whole but also their right to seek medical

Abortion has represented the long standing feud between Democrats and Republicans ; Kelli Boyle, a contributor for Elite Daily, criticizes the actions taken by the government, specifically conservatives voting to defund Planned Parenthood which would heavy impact thousands of women who rely on low-cost/free health care. Boyle also explicitly points out that: “this is political bullsh*t and has nothing to do with the thousands upon thousands of women who rely on the reproductive health care provided by Planned Parenthood.” One vital point that Boyle makes is that abortion has become politicized to a degree that politicians are using it to generalize all of female reproductive care procedures, no matter side of the aisle they sit on. As a result, “Planned Parenthood animated much of the budget debate on the House floor.” (Lepore 2017) — showing the influence these facilities have in debates regarding the nation’s spending budget.…

Women’s rights has been an issue in the United States since the early 1800’s and until all people are comfortable discussing the fact that in many parts of the world, women have no say in what they can do with their bodies or how it’s treated. A woman should be the only one who can decide what is best for her body. There is only so much that women can do when the one place that helps women with checkups and abortion based questions, Planned Parenthood, is being defunded or closed down. “The House of Representatives is expected to pass a budget reconciliation bill that guts the Affordable Care Act, pulls roughly $450 million in federal assistance from Planned Parenthood and prevents Medicaid recipients from getting reimbursed…
