Journey to Family Nurse Practitioner My main goal is to become a family nurse practitioner. A nurse practitioner is a registered nurse who serves as primary specialty health care providers under a physician. They work with patients throughout their lives, diagnosing illness, conducting examinations and prescribing medication.
