High School vs. College; Oh no they are different!
Many people may think college classrooms and high school classrooms are the same because they have the primary structures of a classroom and both of them are considered to be a learning environment. The truth is they do not contain as much similarities as people may think such as appearance, classroom sizes, and the age difference. Doctor Drew C. Appleby, from the psychology network states, “College classes and professors are going to be different from their high school classes and teachers” (par. 2). People have a conception that all classrooms should look the same, although in college the situation changes. Have you ever had the opportunity to look at both classrooms? If yes, then I’m sure

I remember when I was in high school the classrooms were decorated accordantly to the subject theme. For instance, my Spanish classroom was decorated with bright colors that demonstrated the Hispanic culture. It had small little piñatas across the room. The teacher always had posters that caught the attention of students as well as other people. My other classes had objects that demonstrated what the class was about as well. When we were in class we had to raise our hand to ask for permission when we wanted to use the restroom, the classrooms always had a big paper on the wall that had all the rules in big bold letters. The classroom always reminding us what the rules were. High school classrooms seem to bring excitement, joy, and interest because they seem to get students more happy being in the classrooms. Teachers decorate the classrooms, however they please, because they know the classroom will be there’s the rest of the year. High school classrooms seem more dedicated with the learning of the …show more content…
Students who are in the same classroom are usually around the same age if not there is only a 1 year of difference. While I was in high school the people in my classroom were the same age as me. I never had people who were 2 years older than myself. While I was in high school, there was a guy who was already 19 about to be 20, and they told him he had to go to an adult school because he no longer meet the requirements. In high school classrooms, the tuition is free, and we also do not have to pay for books, but there’s also people who feel forced to attend school. When we are in high school, we have to attend school, and if we do not, the District sends a letter to our parents. In high school classrooms teachers are always constantly telling you what to do, and if you miss a day they will give you the work you missed. In college classrooms there is no age. You could be 17 or 100 and still have the same class as someone much younger or older than you. In college we, have different people from different ages in the same classrooms. The first couple of days, I had my classes I felt weird because some of the people who are in my class were much older than myself, but I am older than other people as well. In a way that made me feel weird, but I do not feel weird anymore. When students attend college, they are responsible for paying books as well as their classes, when students decide to attend

There are many stereotypes surrounding college and the college atmosphere that incoming freshman experience. Students attending college are now exposed to the real world of being responsible for their attendance in classes. College life is more diverse than high school, because students now have the ability to make their own life choices and College students have more freedom than high school students do. Being able to take the classes they want, need, and also paying for their own courses. College students have to be committed to do well in their classes, but also have their own decision making if they want to be present to class or not. Now that students know they have all the freedom they want, some students think they don’t necessarily have to show up to class since they are paying for it.…

Attendance in high school is the most common things everyone does like we can’t get out of the class, we can’t skip the class, and we can’t go to the bathroom without permission. However, in college we have more freedom we can get out of the class whenever we want, we can skip class, and we can go to the bathroom without permission. There are other sort of activates that happens in high school but in college it’s more revealing I would refer it as classroom activities. In Shaker High School, we can’t use the cell phone in class and we can’t drink coffee in class. At Hudson Valley Community College, we can…

Take a look at a typical elementary classroom, there are blank walls, straight rows of desks, and the teacher's podium is place at the front of the room to show ownership or authority. That is it. Now take a look at a 20th century schoolhouse classroom. It has the same basic feel to it as the classroom from today has. With the changing of our culture and technologies, there needs to be a change in our classroom settings as well.…

In “The Difference between High School and College” a part of the book “College Thinking: How to Get the Best out of College, the author Jack Meiland talks about how college is a subversive institution ,and how many students will go home and create arguments with their parents over the way they live because college changed their views on society. His first point he believes that “In senior high school as continuation of elementary and junior high school in this respect”(104) that means in high school you learn the same things that you in elementary and middle school and high school. You just will learn the same information just into much deeper detail and harder problems that make you mind work harder. In college you are given theories or opinions on how something is said so you have to think and…

Firstly, the atmosphere in a college classroom versus a high school classroom is dramatically different. Although both environments include the same students, the behavior of these students differ from place to place. For example, during a class at the high school, students can be found laughing, on their phones, and barely paying attention to what the teacher has to say. But put those same students in a professor’s lecture and you will find nothing but respect and attentive learning.…

College is much better than High school in so many ways. One-way college is better than high school is that you are in control of what classes you take by the major you pick. In high school, the counselor puts you in the classes she wants you to be in. Another Way College is better is that you have your own freedom the teachers do not try to keep you in class forever and they do not fuss at you about getting up and going to the restroom. In high school, students try to keep up so much drama, but college students are more mature it might be a little he say she say stuff going around but nothing major like fighting.…

Let’s face it; high school fosters a somewhat protective environment. We were probably not exposed to many different types of people. But there are so many different ages, races, cultures, religions, and beliefs on a college campus. Once we get to college, it is time to start opening our eyes and forming realistic views of this world. It’s a time we begin realizing that not everyone is like us, and has the same morals and beliefs.…

As a result, students can’t afford to attend out of pocket and have to take out loans to get a better education. Another major change is the college mentality from the 80’s. Today most high school students feel pressured and that it’s necessary to go to college. However back in the day, college wasn’t pressured on students and going straight to work out of high school was a social norm. For this reason, most high school graduates today go to college without knowing what they want to do with their life.…

“Comparison and Contrast Essay: High School vs. Collage." I prefer to do this essay as a general contrast of specific topic: Writing is a very important aspect of people’s lives since this is one form of communicating with other people. It does not only enable you to communicate with other people that are far away but also enables you to express your thoughts and emotions through pen and paper. When you practice writing through writing activities, this drastically improves your English writing skills for the reason that I believe in a saying that says, “Practice makes perfect”. High school, as well as college, is just another part of everyone’s lives.…

In high school, students live with their parents and follow strict house rules such as curfew. Whereas in college students have more freedom and the ability to stay out later with no parental control. This allows college students to become more social and spark up new friendships, which can be as simple as their roommate. At college, students benefit from having a roommate because this teaches them professionally get along with one another, and possibly make a lifelong friend. In high school follow a school directed schedule and proceed from one class to another while in college you manage your own time and schedule. In high school a bell tells you when classes start and end and in college you get to class without any formal reminder. In college you are required to have all homework or any missed tests or assignments done with no reminder from teachers like you get in high school. You are also required to get help if needed in college because teachers do not approach you with the request if they think you need help. Everything you do in college is all up to you and you have to manage everything.…

I often think about the similarities and differences from my high school experiences and my brief experience in college. I have noticed that both high school and college allows students the freedom and opportunity to choose classes pertaining to our future career. College; however, differs in that it offers a wider variety of courses for a more diverse education and unlike high school, where you are learning from a book and notes, college educates us on real world experiences. A great example would be the global cultural events where you learn about other cultures, societies, and are able to see the world from a new, fresh…
