Argumentative Essay: Is College Worth The Future?

There are many different thoughts about if going to college is worth the years in there or not. Some people claim college is not worth going, and some people states it is necessary. For me, college is necessary in order to get the job I want in the future, and therefore I will take the side that states the colleges are worth the time we spend in there. And this is because, we can go to better career pathway with more salary, we can learn the subjects that would help us in the future, and going to college will help us get ready for the life after. The first reasoning of why going to college benefits us is that we can expand our understanding and learn the necessary things that we could use in the future. For example, if you want to learn a new language, high school wouldn’t teach you a lot. High school foreign language class often only teaches you the basics and that wouldn’t even help in the real life. However, in college, there are more choices of …show more content…
For example, doctors, pharmacists, paramedics, nurses, professors, lawyers…etc. those workers need to study in college and earn the degree to be employed. Jobs that require the college degree tend to have higher and stable salaries. The data shows that the earning one can get throughout the life surely depends on the degree that a person has. The graph from the U.S. Census Bureau which shows the work-life earnings of people with different degrees, says while the people with professional degrees earn $4.4 million, people with a high school diploma only earn $1.2 million (Thompson). That is a huge gap between the different degrees and is a truth that we have to remember and is one of the biggest reasons to go to college.
