Castle Family Restaurant is an Independent restaurant chain based out of Northern California. Over the years Castle’s Family Restaurant has maintained their standards to remain competitive and grow their organization into 8 new locations and managed to employ about 340 employees, out of which forty percent are full time and the remaining sixty percent are part time. They have accomplished all of this while maintaining their standards of quality and service for their customers. According to the National Restaurant Association the project sales for 2015 will be a record high of $709.2 billion (National Restaurant Association, 2014-2015). The company’s operations manager is the individual who is in charge of all aspects from hiring, to scheduling, to approving payroll. The current Payroll is completed using a basic Microsoft excel spreadsheet. The employee’s paychecks are printed up using simple computer software, and then delivered personally to each location by the manager. The current process which is very time consuming, and requires a lot of manual work, takes the opportunity away from the manager in which they can be fulfilling other managerial duties pertaining to the restaurant. If the organization decides to keep on conducting business in the same manner, they are risking their ability to grow and also jeopardize their quality and service to their customers. A risk like this will also affect their employees and this can mean that their turnover rate might increase. The operations manager was hired to manage the organizational structure of the business; it did not include HR duties. Implementing this new system will reduce any type of human error and also help the company to meet any government rules and regulations regarding the income and payroll
