Introduction The Castle’s Family Restaurant has eight sites and is currently located in the Northern California area. Mr. Jay Morgan, who is the Operations Manager, is also in charge of the human resource functions of the business. In using a manual system for payroll, Jay, wants to explore a way to save money, time and to help with HR functions so he can focus on the day-to-day operations of the business. A business plan will help Mr. Morgan with information regarding how a HRIS can help with his HR tasks while saving him time to focus on other aspects of the business. They are conducting a comparison of two HRIS’s and will be making a recommendation based on what is best suited for the needs of the Castle’s Family Restaurant. The most important thing here is to implement an information system that would effectively carry out the HR activities of the restaurant.

The restaurant employs 300-340, which are mostly part-time, employees. Mr. Morgan handles all operations of management and HR of the Castle Family Restaurant. The family owned business provides services to the larger numbers of customers and carries out their working in different areas and integrates the system of food chain and employees through its manager Mr. Morgan, who has performed dual responsibilities. Mr. Morgan has to carefully manage the operations of various branches of restaurant with close consideration and integration of employees working in different branches. With 40% of the employees being full time, the need for part-time is increasing. Recruiting and hiring part time employees remain an issue.
