Lest anyone doubt that this God of Fortresses is linked with a person obsessed with building high towers and walls, let me again remind you that these latter chapters link Antiochus Epiphanes with the Antichrist. The books of Maccabees give us a historical account of the rise and fall of this wicked Antiochus. In it we see him, like Trump, linked with building high walls and towers. 1 Maccabees 1:33 says, “Then Antiochus and his forces built high walls and strong towers in the area north of the Temple, turning it into a fort.” (NCV). (The KJV reads: “Then builded they the city of David with a great and strong wall, and with mighty towers, and made it a strong hold for them.”) On Nov 3, 2015, Donald Trump released his final book called, “Crippled America”. In its preface, he talks of his plans to a build a “major wall that would be very high and completely impervious”. But something a bit more unique occurred on Nov 3, 2015. It just so happens that same day, the Antiquities Authorities in Israel announced the discovery of the over 2000-year-old Acra Fortress of Antiochus Epiphanes in Jerusalem. This is an absolutely amazing discovery. Archeologists had been searching for the fortress for over 100 years. It was built to oversee activity in the Jewish Temple and built in exactly the same time period when Antiochus committed his infamous abomination of desolation. This Seleucian Citadel was first uncovered just one month prior to Donald Trump announcing his run for president.…

transgression causes horror, so as to allow both the holy place and the host to be trampled?" 14He said to me, "For 2,300 evenings and mornings; then the holy place will be properly restored." This section has a both near and far prophetic fulfillment. It’s finds its type already fulfilled in the character of Antiochus Epiphanes. He was the wicked eighth king of the Syrian Dynasty 175-164 BC. Antiochus committed the Abomination of Desolation in the Jewish temple by sacrificing a pig to the…

introductory formula in this verse to focus the attention of the reader to the climax of the visions of the beasts. From this group of ten horns, comes up “another horn, a little one” which displaced three other horns. This little horn had “eyes like the eyes of a man, and a mouth speaking great things.” Nothing specifically is said about the nature of what is being said, however, within the Bible’s wisdom literature, through the eyes or speech of a person, their character is revealed (Prov.…

The foremost and consummate antichrist type in the Bible is Antiochus Epiphanes. In the book, “The Understanding of Ornament in the Italian Renaissance”, author Clare Lapraik Guest, states that his processions, “contained temporal allegories and robed statues of the gods plus mythological scenes.” In 168 B.C. he conquered Jerusalem, and inside the Jewish temple, slaughtered a pig on an idol he built to the god, Jupiter. In referencing the Abomination of Desolation in the book of Daniel, Christ…

As already stated, Antiochus is one of the clearest types of Antichrist in the Bible. The Abomination of Desolation he committed is clearly both an event that happened in the 2nd century B.C. as well as a future event that will happen half-way through the tribulation period of Daniel’s 70th week. Types in the Bible can be either events or people in the Old Testament that fulfil a type of its future anti-type. The historical type will share various qualities with its future anti-type. These…

the Old testament is mostly Christologically centered. A classic example is The sacrifice of The Passover Lamb. The New Testament verifies typology as a legitimate form of biblical interpretation. (see 1 Cor. 5:7; John 1:29; 1 Peter 1:19) But what of typology in the Old Testament not officially sanctioned by the New Testament writers? Many types of Christ found in the Old Testament are not specifically cited in the New Testament. Joseph, son of Jacob, is a classic example. Any internet search of…

As already stated, Antiochus is one of the clearest types of The Antichrist in The Bible. The Abomination of Desolation that Antiochus committed is a “type” from the 2nd century B.C., that points forward to its future “anti-type” which shall be fulfilled half-way through The Tribulation Period — Daniel’s 70th week. Types are biblical characters (or events) that contain many characteristics of their future anti-types. These characteristics may be personal, behavioral, or experiential. Typology is…

events recorded; the date of the book must be determined. While the liberal theologians believe that Daniel was written in the second century B.C. most conservative scholars hold to a sixth century B.C. date of writing. This dating is imperative due to the copious references in Daniel to Antiochus Epiphanes, which is a typology of the Antichrist. If the dating of the book were held to the former instead of the latter, this would diminish the significance of the prophecies and in turn would make…

The Secret History was written by Procopius during his lifetime, but after his other works. This was a work written for himself and close friends, which he never intended to publish. The Secret History shows a different side to the events that happened in the Byzantine Empire. This book shows a different side to many different, well know rulers in Byzantine. Procopius portrays Antonina to be a very scandalous person with very little morals who would cheat on her husband every chance she got.…
