As a supervisor, she has the ability of controlling and distributing valued rewards. The third one is expert power, since Collen is considered a highly successful manager of nursing in one of the Healthcare Plus clinics. She has enough experiences and knowledge to deal with the nursing management. To effectively use the power to cause behavioral and attitudinal changes of her managers, Collen should adopt some kinds of influence behaviors. The first one is rational persuasion. Asking for all managers’ opinions before she make her final decision is helpful to make them trust her. Further, Colleen should share the same information and provide fair treatments to all managers, no matter whether they come from Medical One or Healthcare Plus. Maintaining a certain level of justice is critical in a combined firm.
