The belief behind this theory is that people want to leave there troubles behind and enter a world of fiction where they feel that they have more control over the events that take place. The two researchers set out to find why players found the game to be so interesting and why they would spend as reported earlier 29.11 hours a week on the game (Peters and Malesky 481). Their research was done by having players answer a questionnaire, they then interpreted the answers into results, and again the results found were in contradiction to their hypothesis that the players played for the feeling of accomplishment.
