Psychology Today defines child neglect as “a type of maltreatment related to the failure to provide needed, age-appropriate care. Unlike physical and sexual abuse, neglect is usually typified by an ongoing pattern of inadequate care and is readily observed by individuals in close contact with the child.” (Child Neglect 1). One of the biggest arguments about problematic children is that the parents aren’t around enough, did a horrible job raising them in a loving and sound environment, or that they were neglectful. In some instances this is most likely the case, but not always. There’s no doubt that some parents just aren’t good parents. Sometimes parents have kids too young, or they just have kids they didn’t want in the first place; in this scenario, it can be seen by how the child acts out and how they are. In other cases, parents will do all they can, give their children love, attention, and care; the child may react to it, but they also
