What makes a good parent? What makes a bad parent. Do parents know what is always best for their children, do parents always have a good connection with their children? Lord and Lady Montague have deep concern for Romeo's wellbeing. Lord and Lady Capulet just want the best for Juliet. Throughout Romeo & Juliet, Shakespeare reveals that parents do know what is best for their children, This can be seen through all of the deaths that came from their decisions, and from Juliet's parents trying to pave a path for what they thought was right for her, and what they thought was best for her. Throughout Romeo & Juliet it is revealed that the protagonist parents know what is best for their children because of the tragic outcome of their decisions.

Friar Lawrence "Romeo, there dead, was husband to that Juliet, And she, there dead, that Romeo’s faithful wife. I married them....." (Act 5 Scene 3 240-245). Friar Lawrence explains to Lord Montague that he is accountable for Romeo and Juliet's death and he was the one that married them, the Friar thought that if he brought a Montague and a Capulet together then the long family feud would be over but now after Romeo and Juliet both killed themselves he realizes that he made a horrible mistake. Lord Montague is very upset because his son beat him to the grave and he feels regret because if he would've been more connected to his child and gave him advice about love things would have been very different, but Romeo was very distant from his parents and didn't want a lot to do with them and his decision to marry a Capulet ended in death. This depicts that Lord Montague is a good father because he feels and shows grief for his son's death and wishes he would've tried to become closer to Romeo.
