Looking at the effect of social media on interaction through symbolic interactionism.

On February 4th, 2004, one of the largest social media network website was launched. Now in 2015 Facebook is one the most widely used and known social media website in the world, according to The Guardian Facebook has over 1.2 billion active users. Ever since Facebook has been launched many other social media websites have launched and raised in popularity, such as Twitter, Instagram, and Tumblr, people all over the world and ages ranging from young to old use all of these social media websites to communicate with others. Social media has contributed to many trends, and became very popular in the last 10 years. Ever since social media website have emerged, communication has evolved. Now instead of having a face to face communication, people are now able to communicate through their accounts on social media. Social media websites has allowed it users to present themselves to the world and to their friends and family even strangers, which help form a new way of interaction. Such has on Facebook it allow it users to post status and respond to others, like certain pages, upload pictures and accept and add friend requests. All social media websites share the same features allowing their users to share small parts of their lives to the world.
