The Controversy Of A Lie

Decent Essays
I think that a lie of any sort is just that a lie. Which means that you are not being truthful, to whomever the person may be. You tell a lie to soothe a hurt that's only going to make the situation more difficult. Once the first lie is told, then you have to keep telling lies to cover up the lie you told. Which then becomes an awkward situation. Always tell the truth weather it hurts or not. The person you lied to will still end up hurt, because you told a lie that didn't have to be told. How would you feel if someone lied to you about something? I personally think that anyone that lies to me about something simple will lie about something major. Just be honest with the person, if you feel like the truth will hurt that person

    1. According to Ericsson, we all lie because we want to avoid confrontation, spare people’s feelings, and to get out of particular situations. To avoid confrontations, sometimes it is necessary to lie, for example, if you were talking about someone behind their back and they hear about it, you are going to deny that you ever talked bad about that person to avoid getting into an alteration. If someone is wearing an ugly outfit that they are real proud of, you are most likely going to lie to them by telling that someone that you love their outfit just to avoid hurting their feelings.…

In “The Ways We Lie” by Stephanie Ericsson she discusses and breaks down the activity of lying into different kinds of lies. Ericsson goes into great detail of about 10 of them, but there are many more. Some lies are for your peace of mind and maybe still bad for both parties, and some are for the better of someone else’s feelings. Ericsson believes that even if you feel you are perfect, nobody is and still tell lies no matter big or small, we do it and at times are unaware that it is considered a lie. Individuals nowadays get to a point where they are lying and don’t know whether to believe themselves or others.…

Lying and deception is one of the most common sins that we see in law enforcement according to our ethic book. This is one of the sins that can easily be made, and most would see as not a very big sin depending on what an officer is lying about. A person of the law should never lie but some examples can be when a civilian reports an officer doing something they shouldn’t of done like speeding or turning their lights on to get through a light just so they don’t have to wait. Now when this gets reported an officer could easily lie and say he or she didn’t do this because there is most likely no evidence of this being done and it’s the officers word against the civilians. Now that is just a simple example of how an officer could lie to a leader or their department.…

you find telling the truth way more easier than it is to tell the lie or “sweet talk” your way out of it. Lies no matter how big or small are going to add up and get much more confusing in the end. When speaking out on the truth its half of most people’s instinct or in my cases it’s not, but after a while and you focus on not telling lies it becomes nearly too almost impossible to lie .Someone or something gives it away and they are left already knowing. Like for example if there was a surprise dinner for someone at work and the person you are throwing a surprise to ask what are you doing for the weekend you say I have this surprise dinner I have to go to and you were just being honest and everyone was trying to be secretive about. If you are an honest person most people will come to you about information or feedback.…
