Register to read the introduction… Conflict Resolution Each individual brings a unique viewpoint, skill set, and experience to the team. Most teams need time to learn how to work together and benefit from each other’s strengths while helping each other overcome individual weaknesses. Therefore, conflicts are a normal part of group development and often arise during the forming and storming stages. Each team member is expected to be respectful of his/her teammates as we work through potential conflicts. If teammates are in conflict on a specific topic, then each person in direct opposition will be asked to provide supporting arguments for his/her viewpoint. After a thorough discussion, the team will make a decision on how to resolve the conflict. If necessary, a majority rules approach may be used. If during these conflict resolution discussions, the team is unable to resolve its conflict due to a teammate being disrespectful or unwilling to consider other people’s opinions, then the team will contact the Faculty Assistant to intervene. The goal of the intervention will be to provide guidance to the team on how to resolve the conflict. E.
