Individual Reflection Paper As humans, it is within our inborn nature to interact and cooperate with others. This is due to the fact that no one individual is perfect and capable in all ways. We are able to complement each other’s inadequacy through working as a group, hence this is why collective efforts often made things easier as compared to individual effort. While working in groups, we will experience changes in group dynamics and processes. The differences in group dynamics and processes is what made each group unique. Through this group project of producing an ad to persuade school leavers that have completed their pre-university studies to enroll for the Bachelor of Psychology at HELP University, I was able to have a better understanding …show more content…
Since we were given the freedom to choose our own teammates to form groups of five, we generally chose to team up with our friends. This resulted in a greater camaraderie within the group. The camaraderie among teammates made us felt that we are all part of the group and each of us held responsibility towards the group. Owing to the mutual understanding between teammates, we got to share and consider each other’s thoughts as well as made important decisions together which reduced a great deal of problems and conflicts within the group. In terms of group cohesiveness, I felt that we were quite unified. Each member had different roles in the group which made everyone of us indispensable and we cooperate well with one another. We were all assigned with different tasks based on our strengths and collaborated in such a way that we were able to complement each other’s lacking. As a whole, I would consider the dynamics and processes in our group as constructive. Our group dynamic and processes can be further described through the concept of leadership, conformity and planning fallacy. …show more content…
In terms of leadership style, I would consider myself more towards social leadership that focused more on teamwork, resolving disputes and providing support (Myers, 2013). Instead of directing the other group members on what to do, I distributed my authority with my group members by giving them the opportunity to voice their ideas as well as involving them in decisions making processes. I believed that group members felt more appreciated when their suggestions were acknowledged which then enhanced more creative and productive thoughts.
