Sylvan Lake-Personal Narrative

It was a dark and stormy night in July. My friends and I were fishing in a boat on Sylvan Lake, and the water was beginning to get very choppy and bubbly. As the water splashed into our boat, we tried to paddle towards the docks. We began to panic as the waves pushed our tiny boat further out towards the center of the lake. Soon we got tired and stopped paddling all together. The current forced us to a strong, spinning whirlpool that took up the entire center of the lake. All of the paddling was for nothing. As we screamed and called for help, the boat helplessly plummeted down through the whirlpool. The downward spinning felt like an eternity.
I'm not sure how we arrived, but we found ourselves in a dark cave, apparently under Sylvan Lake. It was so dark, I had to fumble around and find my flashlight in my fanny pack. I pushed the button and the dark cave lit up. As I turned to the left, to examine my surroundings, we came face to face with the grossest, most hideous creature we had ever seen. It was a slimy, purple, floating orb that had one giant eye in the center, and ten smaller eyes at the end of its squirming tentacles. We found a ladder that went up to a heavy manhole cover, and we pushed and pushed until it broke loose and we finally saw daylight. Our group crawled out of the hole and found ourselves in the woods near Sylvan Lake. Everything was quiet now and it appeared the storm had passed. I wondered to myself, “Is this a dream?” My friends and I looked at each other and cracked up with laughter. We knew we were now safe. My friend looked at me with a serious expression and said, “Wait a minute...what did that monster say?!?” We all walked home and swore an oath to never speak of this moment
