Lake Latoka-Personal Narrative

Improved Essays
This picture expresses every single one of my family member’s personality. This picture was taken at Lake Latoka in Minnesota. We had such a great time there, although my Grandma sold our cabin a couple years ago.
I still remember the crisp waves lapping up against the dock. The sound was so lulling and peaceful that you didn’t have trouble getting to sleep. We had two boats and a jet ski. The jet ski was purple before we had to get a brand new one. The new one was yellow, but my grandma sold it when she sold the cabin. The first boat was our fishing boat. It had a radar screen to tell you where the fish were, and all of the boys enjoyed fishing on it. Of course, since I didn’t want to tan with the girls all day, I usually went with them. The Bayliner is our other boat. This boat was mostly used for skiing and tubing, but we also used it to just ride around the lake. My family was lucky, because my grandma gave us the Bayliner to keep. We still use it

Let’s start from the left. Kelly is about the same. This was over 8 years ago, and I don’t see really any difference. Her arms are crossed, and her outfit looks simple, but classy. This makes her look serious but tasteful. Kelly was baptized before this picture. She still wears a bun and skirts. (Like me!) If you have taken a look at her now, she is still stick-thin. She’s even had three kids! So long story short, Kelly hasn’t changed.
The next person is Amy. Her shirt explains half of her story. She will buy mostly anything that is country and cowboy. She has always listened to country music, and if she would buy any clothes for her kids, half of them would be country-like. Amy is also pretty thin, but her body has a more sturdy build. She just had another little baby, but this time it’s a little cowboy! His name is Lane Andrew Sinn. She is also baptized now, but she doesn’t always have her hair up. Like Kelly, Amy hasn’t changed too

There is even a cultural conversation about males bodies and the “dad bod”. The dad bod is the justification for men to be okay that they do not have the standard six pack, toned muscle body. However, this is a use of prescriptive ideology, because some men are trying to include themselves in the “this is my body” movement that has been started by women (Hentges). Which is an another point that is made in the film of women must make sure that their bodies are in “perfect” shape even if they had children and that idea is reinforced through Kelly. Throughout the film she was constantly wearing clothes even while she was having sex with Mac.…

In the year 1499, Alonso de Ojeda and his mapmaker Amerigo Vespucci (whom America was named after) was reminded of the canals of Venice, Italy by seeing Indian huts built on stilts in Lake Maracaibo (Venezuela News, Views, and Analysis, 2016). This lead Ojeda and Vespucci to name the land after the Italian word “Veneziola”, meaning “little Venice” or now known as Venezuela (Venezuela News, 2016). Lake Maracaibo is Venezuela's oldest lake, it is estimated to be 20 to 40 million years old (Venezuelan News, 2016). All though Lake Maracaibo is an incredible sight it is not the only landform Venezuela is known for, the world’s tallest uninterrupted waterfall is Angel Falls which is 3212 feet tall (Venezuela News, 2016). Venezuela is home to 28,946,101…

On Thursday September 22, the entire class met at 9:30am in front of the windmill. There we were told the route through the Cedar Dell Pond we were heading in and shown naturally occurring jagged rocks from Professor Broadrose. While still standing by the windmill we were told to look over the pond area and imagine there were no trees, this would be a Tundra. This is what existed 9-11 thousand years BCE. The day was hot, at this time there were no clouds in the sky.…

When my father was young, his father had bought him and his siblings an orange plastic play boat to use at the family cottage. It had ore holders and a rope on the front in order for someone to drag it behind them in the shallow parts or to tie to the steps that lead into the cold waters of Lake St. Clair. My father loved that orange boat and he and his five siblings claimed that I was unsinkable. It lasted the wear and tear of burning hot summers with crazy thunderstorms and through freezing lake winters in the shed with whimsical blizzards. It has even lasted through me, my sisters, and my cousins.…

My photographer is Josef Sudek, his approach to his style is more of nature and black and white, I was looking at a lot of his pictures and they mainly all look the same. He mostly shoots outdoors but, if she shoots indoors he makes sure its in a window, or in a couple there were rays of sunlight coming into the picture kind of having the same feelings as the others. It looks like he likes to use a lot of different types of light for his photography. Josef Sudek's technique seems to be very simple, he has a basic subject or a very broad subject or main idea of the picture, all of his pictures are different but seem very alike to one another. In a lot of his photos he just had a subject in the picture or nature or outdoors in the background…

When I was about 3 years old, I can remember my Grandparents lake house in Houston, Texas. My parents and I lived there until my grandparents moved into the country 2 hours outside Houston. Before moving, I can remember my mother taking me out to the lake to feed the ducks and always telling me I can’t swim in the lake because it’s too dirty. I remember going into the kitchen to get juice and spilled it everywhere and was found cleaning my mess while cursing because I thought saying “Shit” and “God Damnit” would magically clean the mess. I would grab a stick of butter and sit 3 inches from the television while watching the Teletubbies.…
