Personal Narrative: Miromar Lakes

Improved Essays
Miromar Lakes located in Fort Myers, Florida, it was voted the number one gated community in America! That’s where I stayed over my spring break! My aunt lives in the community, so we stayed with her. While we were there we did some amazing things. One of the activities we did was parasailing. I parasailed with my mother and sister. Parasailing is when you’re in a harness connected to a parachute, which is also connected to a boat. When the boat speeds up, you’re lifted up into the sky. While we were up there we saw a Cow-shoe Stingray! From the top view of the ocean the water seemed aquamarine rather than blue. In the beginning my sister didn't want to do it, but once it was over she wanted to do it again. While on our trip we also got to paddleboard and kayak. At first I didn’t want to paddleboard, so I kayaked with my sister. Later, I switched to paddle boarding, it was much easier than I …show more content…
First, we went to Captiva Island, which is off of the Florida Gulf Coast. My sister and I love to collect seashells and swim. While we swam in the warm ocean water we would stepped on seashells to stop them from getting caught in the mighty wave current, then we picked them up. We gathered many beautiful seashells on Captive. We also went to Naples Beach, which that water felt colder than Captiva. Something I enjoyed was that the sand felt warm on my toes. Lastly, we traveled to Fort Myers Beach. That beach smelled gross! Since the wind was very chilly that day, we stayed for five minutes and then left. One night we went out to eat at a burger place where we could construct your own burger or sandwich. They had the sweetest tomatoes, the juiciest burgers, and the hottest Chipotle sauce. Later, we played Bocce Ball. You have two teams, one team chucks a light white ball somewhere on the court. Both teams try to throw their set of balls closest to the white one. My mother, aunt and myself were on a team , we won of

Of course, since I didn’t want to tan with the girls all day, I usually went with them. The Bayliner is our other boat. This boat was mostly used for skiing and tubing, but we also used it to just ride around the lake. My family was lucky, because my grandma gave us the Bayliner to keep. We still use it…

In the trove of memories that I have from the visits to Florida, one in particular stands out. One day when we visited in June we went to Blue Springs park. It had crystal clear water so you were able to see 40ft to the bottom. After swimming in spring water for a while we rented canoes and went down the river it was connected to. We had enough fun after a couple hours and we were about to finish the day off by jumping off a 5ft ledge into the 40ft deep water.…

Today Kit and i led the group to Izaak Walton lake. I was nervous this morning for taking such a big role. I didn’t want the power to get to my head and end up being mean or over demanding. In the early morning i went around telling people to get water and start undoing their tents. Surprisingly we ate, broke down our gear, and began our stretch circle forty minutes before the usual.…

I was five when I swam out into Lake Ramsey. The water was a warm brown, as with most water in Louisiana. This was was not the first time I had gone to Ramsey, but this time, it was for a specific purpose. I was going to learn how to ski and my grandfather was going to teach me. This would be the start of the lessons he, as my mentor, would teach me.…

I had been wakeboarding before so I knew how to, but it was my cousin's first time, so it was funny to watch them because they fell a lot. They couldn’t even stand up for a while, and once they would stand up they couldn’t keep their balance and would topple over. We also had a lot of fun tubing. Sometimes, we would play games on the tube, like seeing who could stay on the longest without holding on. After we were tired out , we got to tie dye shirts.…

When I was ten years old, I moved to West Texas. I loved swimming in the lakes and ponds around my home before, so I was disappointed when I found out that there was only one body of water near my new home. This “lake” (about the size of a football field) was called Clearwater Lake. It took about an hour’s time to drive there. The first time my family drove over there, I was amazed by how many people there were, all the cars packed liked sardines, the people moving so slowly it was like molasses.…

Then I went to Mexico and felt the warm ocean breeze roll off the waves and thought man it would be tremendous to be somewhere comparable to this all the time. The resort my family stayed at was exquisite and it had a humongous pool. However, the beach was rocky and not enjoyable to relax on causing my family to go around to different beaches that were quite a bit superior. There was this one time where out of nowhere it started storming forcing all the people on the beach crammed in under this canopy. The canopy was an outdoor restaurant so while all the people on the beach waited for the storm to die down, my parents bought us nachos that were super savory.…

At the beach you get to play in the sand or swim in the water. Building sandcastles in the sand is one of my favorite things to do. You also get to watch the Dolphins and the fisherman's as they pull in sharks or whatever fish they might catch. Playing in the water riding the waves then it's also fun.
