According to the statistics, there has at least one school shooting since 2013. However there was a tragic event happened before. For Instance, The Virginia Tech School massacre was a school shooting that took place on April 16, 2007 on the campus of Virginia polytechnic institute. This deadliest shooting incident happened by a single gunman, which killed 32 people and wounded 17 others. Recently, Umpqua College, in Oregon the mass shooting killed 10 people and 7 more injured. According to PEW research statistics, school shooting is in higher rate than it was before, which indicates college rule is weak and not applied well to protect the society. As a result of this increasing rate, campuses should have a better rules to protect everyone in the college. Also, higher educations need to administer their rule in every campus because written rule by itself couldn’t protect individuals unless they demonstrate it well. In addition to the rules, colleges also should have a high level of punishment methods for the person who violates the rule. For example, colleges can terminate a person who violets the campuses’ rule by carrying inappropriate weapons inside the campus. If that person punished on time, he or she will not try to do it again, and others will learn from this person unappropriated behavior and from the colleges strict act. College’s safety shouldn’t be a question because protecting college’s means protecting the future generation of this country. The Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting is one of a tragic example, which prove the importance of safety not only in the higher educations, but in the whole schools that are providing education to this generation. Lack of security in college lead many families to lose their children and family members in the past, so colleges need to give more attention for their safety. President Barak Obama once said, “Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time.” This quote is related to the college’s safety because change will not come in college if we wait other persons to change the rules, or if we wait some other time to come and change the situation.
