Lee Code Of Conduct Research Paper

In speaking with Lee alumni from 1985, Lee University was known as Lee College and the codes of conduct were much more stringent under the guidelines of the Church of God. With the acceptance as a Federally funded university, Lee had to conform to the requirements held by the State of Tennessee. This was done after much prayer and decision making, yet by adopting the current policies, Lee could further the spreading of the gospel. Back then, there was mandatory dress codes, zero tolerance for unchristian behavior, and an underlying fear amongst all students that these behaviors would be severely dealt with. The codes of conduct required men and women to behave as ladies and gentlemen. Today, as society has fallen astray for good moral living and standards, these codes are outdated and irrelevant. Thus, we must learn to work within the requirements that the federal and state governments have set forth and enforce what we may. However, as students, we find the enforcement of these penalties is virtually obsolete, unless the offense is of an extreme nature, such as the threatened school shooting that took place a couple years ago. Thus, before we can demand more penalties for behavioral offenses, we need to enforce the one’s we have, to see if they need revision. Then, we can adjust as deemed necessary. Thus, in practicality, it is not solely the staff or administration of this campus to enforce these conduct rules. It is the student’s also.
