When I first decided that the field in which I was working, Early Childhood Education, was not what I felt passionate about, I decided to reevaluate my life goals. As soon as I chose to adventure on the path to becoming a Registered Nurse many doors opened. I finally felt like I had made the right decision that becoming an Registered Nurse and taking care of patients was my purpose in life. All of these “doors” made it feel like God was telling me “Yes this is for you.” With that I applied to Augusta Technical College taking only one class to make sure I had time to focus, gather myself and readjust to the college life. I’ve always known what I was supposed to become. It just took getting my support system and me getting my life in order to start to work towards it. I fought my life’s purpose for a long time. When I finally lifted my hands to the Lord and said “I give up, I’m tired of fighting, whatever you want me to do, show me and I will do it.” It was almost immediately that I received an answer. I randomly ran into people that wanted to help me. I was first offered a job opportunity with a Doctor from GRU, this schedule would allow me to go back to school during the middle of the day. The doctor that I now work for is supportive, works with my school, answering questions I have, and nothing short of amazing. I had always wanted to be a nurse, but was discouraged by my family. They did not think I could do it, and at that time not only did I believe them but they were right. Years later, however if my family were to say they didn’t think I could do it, they would be very wrong. I am much older then when I first proclaimed my desires, and have had time to mature. The drive and determination I have now is nothing short of divine, and I am a firm believer now that everything works in favor of the Lord and those who want to do his work. The average pay for a first year RN is $56,418 and after the first year of experience can increase to $61,4444. The requirements to become an RN are …show more content…
The cons are that my personal life will have to be put on hold and my dedication will have to push me through. I truly believe I have the tools to become a nurse. I have friends in the field that help me and have been there ready to answer any questions and several doctors who have also been willing to help and ask their nurses what they would suggest. It is with their guidance that I am now at Georgia Military College. And it is also with their help I know that my next step upon completion of my certificate is to take the TEAS, volunteer, and start now on my packet for acceptance into GRU or another nursing
