Have you ever thought what it would be like to save someone’s life or how it would feel to tell someone that their family member is gonna make it? Well try being an RN, they get that feeling every day! Being raised in a family of nurses, I had many role models to idol when I dream about becoming a nurse when I grew up. I have been able to experience many different emotions that nurses experience while taking care of ill or injured to healthy new mothers and their baby to very sick preterm babies. I love working with kids and just helping people in general. I think being an RN is very intriguing, you learn something new everyday. As I began researching the topic, registered nurses, I noticed that the job growth, work environment/conditions, and the education was very high. They spend a lot of time walking, bending, stretching, and standing (Occupational Outlook Handout). They are also very vulnerable to back injuries because they often lift and move patients many times throughout the day (Occupational Outlook Handout). RN’s make about $65,470 per year and about $31.48 per hour. RN’s are projected to grow 19% from 2012 to 2022, faster than the average for all occupations (Occupational Outlook Handout). Although being a RN can be very stressful and hard at times, it is a great job. So after researching about the work environment/conditions, I have found more interest to become a registered nurse. I hope that my dream to become a nurse will happen one day, I hope that my dream to save someone’s life will happen. Most registered nurses have a diploma, Bachelor’s, and Associate's degree.
