As a future register nurse and as a woman I feel that a have a tremendous responsibility to give back to my community. I believe that one of the most forgotten populations in our community is the elderly, and as a society we have so much to learn from them and to thank them for what they did in the past. I strongly believe that if I could make some positive changes I would decide to do them to influence some senior citizens’ lives and to change their isolation for companion and thankfulness. I would advocate for the elderly with our authorities and I would request a budget to build a clinic to provide preventive health care services for them. I would designate a budget to build a nursing home for the elderly that do not have a place to…
My day started a bit off, I had an emergency that morning that made me run a bit late for clinical. This made me miss some important information such as, how nurses in NCBH hand over to the next shift, but aside that, I had a wonderful day working with nurse Mrs. Osei. She welcomes me by introducing herself, which I responded likewise. She took me with her to do her morning rounds and administer medication to her assigned patient. After we were done with her morning medication, I went to one of her patient whom I was assign to by Mrs. Natasha to perform mini mental survey and general assessment on the patients.…

The career I was assigned for this presentation is a Family Nurse Practitioner. In the spirit of full disclosure, until this paper I was not fully aware of what this profession truly does for the community. Family nurse practitioners, abbreviated as FNPs, are advanced practice registered nurses who work autonomously or in collaboration with other healthcare professionals to deliver family-focused care (graduatenursing). Although I personally have always found the field of nursing vastly interesting and I do plan on working with children, I am not currently pursuing this career.…
For years and years, and still to this day, I have been indecisive about where my future career will land. During my childhood years and CSI being my all-time favorite TV show, I always wanted to be an investigator. After CSI, Judge Judy was my new show and I thought I wanted to be a lawyer. It was not until I accepted my first job as an in-home sitter that I knew I would spend the rest of my life building a nursing career.…

After I read more about nurses and what they do, I decided that that is exactly what I wanted to do. I had more of an interest in being a nurse more rather than any of my other choices. I have thought about being a nurse since I was ten years old, even though I had a lot of other choices, a nurse was always on my mind. I was always so fascinated with what the nurses do. I thought I was so cool seeing them all dressed up with their scrubs, shoes, and having their outfits all professional.…

When I was a child and a lot of times during my adolescence I had several moments of indecision about the things that I wanted. From the simplest to the most complicated. And although it was hard to choose what to write or what flavor of ice cream to buy, I was always sure of one thing: I like to help people. That's why I chose nursing as my career to college because this was a way I found to realize my dream; being able to help my fellow man when he needs it most. Care, protect, guide and support anyone who needs, help others to face their fears and challenges, it is very rewarding!…
I admired the nurse that took care of my aunt up to this day and hold them in high respect. I invested hours in their office whenever I visited my aunt in the moments of her surgery or to pick up her medicines. Few years later, I had been volunteering at a local hospital, this made me fully realize the hard work nurses put in their work line. My overall experience with the nurses that I encountered was positive. In my senior of high school, I took a course on health and human anatomy.…
I currently work full time at a nursing home as a state-tested nurse aide. My job is to assist people who cannot care for themselves to perform basic care that is required on a daily basis. A few of my job duties include helping residents of this facility with bathing, getting dressed each morning, brushing their teeth, assisting them in eating their meals, and taking them to the restroom,. That is just a small amount of tasks I complete in during an exhausting 12-hour shift. In the medical field, this care is called activities of daily living, or A.D.L.’s for short.…
Ever since high school my dream has always been to become a nurse. I know that Nursing is the profession for me. Becoming a Pediatric Nurse is what interest me.
