Personal Narrative: My Doctoral Program

We have all had some personal challenges or obstacles. On a personal note, I began my doctoral program at St. John’s University in 1998. The quote” life is short” is a reality for me as a new mother, I suffered the loss of my spouse and found that raising a child as a single parent very challenging. Therefore, I was not able to complete my Doctoral Program for Education Administration at St. John’s University, Queens New York. My dad a giant angel in my life passed on November 27, 2015 in the arms of his girls, my two sisters, my daughter and myself. My dad was a Master Sargent with over thirty years of military experience as a pilot. Both my husband and my dad experienced such hardship yet, they never gave up. These two men both retired from the United States Air Force. My dad completed his doctoral program while serving in the military. He taught us the value of education as we traveled oversees and we were able to see first-hand how other people lived. …show more content…
I received my first assignment as a principal when Laurah was in college. There are so many days that run into weeks and months when I arrive at work in the morning and I am often the last one to leave the building. I believe my hard work ethics come from my parents and grandparents.
In closing, these have been some of my personal challenges and obstacles. It would be my esteem honor to complete my Doctoral Program in Education and Administration at your school. I look forward to hearing from
