Personal Essay: A Career As A Payroll Assistant

I have extensive experience in completing office related duties. For example, my previous responsibilities include working in the Human Resources (HR) department. This requires me to deal promptly with workload involving various filing and a variety of data entry, in relation to existing and new staff members ensuring accurate records are maintained. I have to ensure I deal with such information in a confidential manner according to the institutions policy and data protection.
In addition to this, I have excellent knowledge in dealing with sickness and absence cases. My previous role as a payroll assistant means that one of my most important responsibility is managing frequent, intermittent, long-term absence and sickness cases. This primarily

For example, producing timesheets for employees and checking the hour’s employees have worked. I have also set up new members of staff with the necessary documents that they may need. I have advertised job opportunities and have taken part in the process of recruitment. As well as this I have drawn up PowerPoint presentations, spreadsheets and sent emails using department templates. This has expanded my computer knowledge, including using Microsoft office. This demonstrates that I have excellent word processing skills and it has enhanced my written communication skills too.

For all my jobs a good telephone manner and communication skills was an important part of my role. Hence, I have gained essential customer service and interpersonal skills. Due to working in HR, I communicate efficiently and professionally with different members of the public and outside agencies regularly. I enjoy expressing my ideas and sharing my vision with the other team members, to deliver and ensure the highest standards. I believe that every person in the team has a duty to make such a contribution and support each other to achieve outstanding results. For example, I regularly participate in management meetings where we discuss what improvements we can make with regards to performance. We have to use all the skills set in order to achieve this, such as directing the team members to monitor certain areas. This increased my teamwork skills and my skills in directing and using other adults. I understand that good teamwork also means to be able to follow guidance and direction.
