Tim Horton's Job Analysis

Improved Essays
I am presently an employee of Tim Horton’s, I am currently a shift supervisor in training, and have been working with Tim Horton’s as of October of 2013. The responsibilities at my workplace range from working at the front counter on the POS Cash Register system, keeping record of food production and usage, preparing drinks and beverages, stocking and cleaning my work space, and working at the dual Drive-Thru to calculating and counting total payments received daily, leading by example, positioning staff for the shift, as well as ensuring all policies are being followed. It is a fast paced job where I am continuously learning, and making connections with my customers, co-workers, and employers. In addition to my employment with Tim Horton’s, …show more content…
My communication skills have benefited greatly, I am able to communicate with my customers to ensure satisfaction, but have also learnt how to communicate with my co-workers and employers in order to maintain healthy relationships. I have come across several situations where I have been able to benefit the store or pharmacy with the my ideas, though they were small, such as changes in the layout of a station or a change in the way that we presented products. I have also learnt to be more accepting towards others ideas and opinions. Tim Horton’s specifically helped me manage information and use numbers because I was responsible for counting, calculating, and entering daily cash totals, as well as managing food production, usage, and waste. Volunteering at the pharmacy also helped because I helped organize prescriptions and arrange prescribed drugs. Most importantly both the work and volunteer experiences have improved my problem solving skills. At work, I have come across countless encounters where I have to solve problems, whether that be with a customer, co-worker, or employer. The majority of the time it would be an unhappy customer, I would have to find a solution to the problem and make sure that the customers needs were …show more content…
I am a naturally more quiet and shy person, which did prove to be a weakness for me when it came to working and volunteering, because everything was done in teams. However, with time I was more able to express my thoughts and opinions while feeling comfortable with the people around me. I saw myself shift from always being the listener, to taking on leadership roles, which was noticed by my employers, and they offered to promote me to shift supervisor. Working with Tim Hortons and all the opportunities that came along with working for them, has helped me make a lot of new connections, I am very close with my regular customers, co-workers, and employers. I am particularly very close with my co-workers, inside and outside of work, we get along really well, and I consider them one of my closest group of friends. I have come across situations where I may not agree with something that another team member or pharmacy staff member may have said, and have learnt to respectfully express my own views so that we could collaborate and compromise. Working and volunteering are a team effort so any tasks that we perform are done in teams, at work, this is crucial, I mainly work at the drive thru which depends heavily on team co-operation. We have everyone set up in different positions for example,

For my sixty hours of volunteer work I decided to volunteer at a Child Life Center which was in a poverty stricken area in Norfolk, Va. At the child life center my job as a volunteer was to assist the children with their homework, help the staff monitor the children on local field trips, as well as serve as a positive role model for the children. The experience I had at Park Place Child Life Center was one I will honestly never forget. Although I didn’t get any actual counseling experience, I was able to learn the ways that the non-profit organization received their funding, I was able to gain experience in working with the youth, and I was also able to make a positive impact on the lives of children who were considered “at-risk youth”. To go there every day and be able to see the change the children had in their behaviors and how much just some attention and affection from adults impacted their behaviors was honestly amazing.…

I decided to watch two commercials on Justin Trudeau and I'm actually quite impressed with the idea and message behind both of them. The first commercial I watched was “Escalator-Harder to Get Ahead”. Personally, I found that using the escalator to portray his thoughts was interesting. He stated that Harper is just causing the Canadian economy to move backwards due to the benefits he gives the wealthy and how he gives cuts to everything else. Next, he uses the escalator stopping to show that Mulcair isn't going to get our economy anywhere because he is promising more cuts.…

As a volunteer I hope to develop skills that will help me become more well rounded, skills such as being humble, charitable, generous, involved, and selfness. In my community we have a lake, where students can volunteer on a monthly basis. I started volunteering at the lake when I was in sixth grade and continue to do so up until this day. I also enjoy volunteering to help the refugees who attend my church. My task is to help them learn how to use computers and write resumes in order to get jobs, but rather than doing it for the ‘recognition’ I use my free time to better the lives of others and that is enough of a reason for me to do it again and…

This article is about Justin Trudeau, the leader of the Liberal party of Canada and the plans of a Liberal government. In this article, Trudeau announced in Toronto’s Leaside neighbourhood that the first thing the Liberals would do is cut taxes for the middle class while increasing taxes for the wealthiest percent of Canadians by bringing a new 33 percent tax bracket. He states that the Liberals have a clear plan to put more money in the lower and middle classes pockets and goes on to criticize Conservative leader Stephen Harper on not being able to do it because he is out of touch and doesn’t understand. The article continues to talk about the plan the Liberals have and how the raise of taxes will affect families and impact society. For example,…

Introduction Looking back at my essays from my first semester in Composition I, I can definitely see that I have improved tremendously. My learning from my Composition II was not so much about learning concepts, but it was more about improving what I already learned last semester, and adding onto it. Compared to last semester, my learning this semester came from paying attention to details, following the rules, and adapting to a new teaching style. While last semester, my learning came from new concepts like ethos, pathos, logos and knowing what they are and how they work.…

My previous work experience has exposed me to a variety of team dynamics and I would describe my exposure as very positive. My love for connecting with people has been a major factor in my overall employment success, such as, two management roles before reaching my twenty’s and also a fulfilling career in the financial industry for nine years. Working in a customer service role for the last 14 years I have faced struggles with communication, as well as developed positive skills to work effectively with others. One of the most essential elements I have learned from working as a Financial Advisor is how to build trust with people. I firmly believe this is key to any successful relationship, rather an employment relationship or otherwise.…
