As I am hours from finishing my nursing program and completing my capstone I realize that there is much more to nursing than what is taught in school. Nursing is both and art and a science, it challenges you to think critically, it teaches you to be compassionate and have empathy. Looking back, I realize I have come a long way from when I first started nursing school. Capstone and working along side a nurse has helped me realize how blessed I am and I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.

In addition, communication among the staff and healthcare providers must also be reciprocal. Conflicts between the nurse and the doctors’ orders have come up but they are solved by talking and coming to a mutual conclusion, which is effective. If there is a conflict between nurse and client the institution tries to find the root of the problem and fix it. You wont always agree with your patient but your job, as a nurse is to help them not create more problems. The institution talks and listens to both sides the story not find a resolution. McAllen Medical offers orientation training to new graduates the length of the training depends on the department you are working. They offer job related trainings and continuing education to give the staff the opportunity to grow. The style of management in this hospital is authoritative which mobilizes the team toward a common vision and focuses on end goals, leaving the means up to each individual. The staff has to meet certain criteria the more they accomplish tasks, the more they are rewarded. In this institution there are a lot of implemented core measures such as sepsis alert or core measures for MRSA. The have departments that go around the hospital making sure Prevention of Healthcare Associated Infections are being implemented and the commend nurses for their good
