Nursing Transition Essay

As we are transitioning from LPN to now BSN, it is a journey we embark on with passion and dedication. We are bravely dedicating our lives to continuously taking care of people. As stated in Leadership in Nursing Practice book, “once a nurse, always a nurse! Nursing is a calling”. We touch and change people’s lives every day. Whether the help we provide is appreciated or remains unnoticed, we still feel happy and proud to always say “I’m a nurse”. Whether we were LPNs and now BSN, we remain the same dedicated professionals; somewhat providing different types of care. As an RN with a BSN, we are going to be responsible for each and every action or care we provide. We are no longer working under RN’s or collecting information’s for RN’s. We are now on our own or working under the physician. Wow! It’s a new and challenging situation. How am I going to transition? I will be able to prioritize tasks as well for a better handling of patient care duties. During my practicum, I did a good job filling most of the gap and loopholes. I mean I had my clinical rotation and my practicum at the same hospital. I felt really comfortable. Most of the day and night crew knew me so well and were willing to guide me do things the right way whenever possible or necessary. I didn’t feel afraid to ask for help. That really helped me during my practicum. I felt comfortable doing certain things under routinely difficult or very challenging situations. I was willing to gain new experience, get a job at another department other to the department I used to work. I remember being a float Nurse trainee wherever I wanted just by asking my preceptor.
