It felt like a dream come true for myself and how outstanding the audience roared with excitement as the Seattle Seahawks scored. The game seemed like a blur on how fast it went by, but it was all worth it. My family and I were very fortunate to have a church to offer tickets to go to a live NFL game over in Minnesota. The church also was giving us a free ride in a bus all the way there and back along with other members from the church that chose to go. We were so far from the field you could barely see the players and what they were doing without binoculars. It was so loud you could not even hear the announcer and it was so bright you could not see the jumbo tron because of the sun's glare. It was fun nonetheless because there was so much energy from to the amazing game, but in the end the panthers won and I was sad…

I have had various experiences in the last two years, but the one I feel is the most significant is the time I spent volunteering for the Detroit Mission Trip. This opportunity presented itself in June of 2014 through my church, Metro South Church. I spent one week, Monday through Friday, each day-all day, commuting from my home in Brownstown to the inner city of Detroit. Each day of this mission trip consisted of various volunteer jobs. I was one of approximately 100 people that engaged in the process of making life better for others.…

I was able to volunteer at a local bank that was sponsoring the Lake Park Elementary School for the holiday season. The school has over 300 underprivileged students between the ages of kindergarten and fifth grade. Most of the students at that school only have one meal per day. Along with other volunteers, I packaged bags that contained candy, toys, toiletries, a blanket, and a pair of athletic shoes. The bags were able to provide the children with goods that we often take for granted.…

In the 40/8 veterans organization, the people who work there make food for veterans to eat. I help out by washing the dishes. I also help out my church by assisting and participating in holiday plays, arranging food to be served every other Sunday, and maintaining a clean environment for the church.…

Volunteering at the homeless shelter is one of my favorite things to do. A few weeks ago, on a serene Saturday morning, my family and I volunteered at Loaves and Fishes. It was special to see just the sheer amount of people who had come out to volunteer on that Saturday. If you think about, they could’ve been doing anything on that Saturday morning. Yet, they decided to help give back to their community.…
