As Catholics, we stand by people who need assistance rather than running away and ignoring them. This summer, I worked at the Center for Food Action, which is a food bank in north Jersey. Helping out and delivering the canned good and donations to the needy was such an amazing experience.…

I was able to volunteer at a local bank that was sponsoring the Lake Park Elementary School for the holiday season. The school has over 300 underprivileged students between the ages of kindergarten and fifth grade. Most of the students at that school only have one meal per day. Along with other volunteers, I packaged bags that contained candy, toys, toiletries, a blanket, and a pair of athletic shoes. The bags were able to provide the children with goods that we often take for granted.…

Something that most people don’t know about me is that about once a month I feed homeless people. Over four years ago, my grandfather and great uncle invited me to go with them to help distribute food to homeless people on the street. The first time I went with them I realized that ordinary people like us could directly help people who are hungry. Seeing how I could help take away someone’s hunger pain for even a few hours made it all worthwhile. Since then, I have bought and packaged food (usually a sandwich, chips, and a cookie) about once a month and get my parents or another relative to drive me downtown to pass out bags of food to homeless people in the street.…

For example, Edamame salad derived from Japan and has high amounts of phosphorus and plant protein.…
